Jharkhand News: Karim City College holds workshop on writing research dissertations

Jamshedpur, Oct 15: The Department of Information Technology at Karim City College hosted an insightful workshop today on “Writing a Research Dissertation,” aimed at equipping students with the essential skills for academic research. The event featured Dr. Soniya Riyat, Professor and Head of the Department of Research at Arka Jain University, as the guest speaker.

The session commenced with a welcome address by the workshop coordinator, Dr. Anwar Shahab, who highlighted the importance of research in academic growth. Dr. Mohammad Reyaz, Principal of Karim City College, encouraged students to take full advantage of such initiatives for intellectual development.

Dr. Riyat’s presentation covered critical aspects of dissertation writing, including the collection and organization of data, effective presentation of research findings, sampling techniques, and the use of statistical tools. She also emphasized the importance of proper formatting and structure in dissertation writing.

Key topics discussed were: Best practices for data compilation, strategies for research paper presentation, importance of sampling and various sampling plans, use of statistical tools and analysis in research, drawing meaningful conclusions and actionable recommendations, and adherence to formatting guidelines.

Dr. Riyat further delved into the review of literature, types of research, and common mistakes to avoid. Students actively participated in the interactive session, posing thoughtful questions, which Dr. Riyat appreciated, noting their enthusiasm and discipline.

The workshop concluded with positive feedback from attendees, who left with a deeper understanding of the dissertation process. The event was organized under the guidance of Prof. Ratna Pandey and Prof. Kanchan Bala, with Shafaque, an IT student, serving as the event’s compere.
