Mandar, October 18, 2024: The vibrant town of Mandar is buzzing with excitement as it prepares to host the two-day historic Mudma Jatra, a cultural extravaganza that attracts thousands of devotees and tourists from far and wide.
The fair, scheduled to take place on October 18th and 19th, is a significant event in the region’s calendar, celebrating the rich heritage and traditions of the local community. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all, the administration has implemented stringent security measures, including the deployment of 500 police personnel and the installation of surveillance equipment.

To accommodate the expected influx of visitors, the authorities have also implemented a route diversion for NH39, the main highway passing through Mandar. Vehicles travelling to Ranchi can take an alternative route via Budhmoo, Thakurgaon and Kanthiatand, while those coming from Ranchi can use the detour via Nagri, Bero, and Tangarbasli.
The Mudma Jatra is renowned for its colourful processions, traditional dances, and religious ceremonies. Devotees from neighbouring districts and states converge on Mandar to offer prayers and seek blessings at the local temples. The fair also features a variety of stalls selling handicrafts, local delicacies, and religious items.
As the fair kicks off today, the atmosphere in Mandar is electric. The streets are adorned with colourful decorations, and the air is filled with the sounds of music and chanting. The local administration is urging visitors to adhere to the guidelines and maintain order to ensure a peaceful and memorable experience for everyone.
