Jharkhand News: BIT Sindri team shines at IFQM Symposium in Delhi

Dhanbad, Oct 24: The team from BIT Sindri made a significant impact at the Indian Foundation for Quality Management (IFQM) Symposium held at Taj Palace, New Delhi.

The symposium organised by IFQM was attended by Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Piyush Goyal and featured over 100 industry leaders, experts, and stakeholders who emphasized the importance of cultivating a ‘quality culture’ in education and industry.

Prof. Ghanshyam, chairman of the Career Development Centre at BIT Sindri, received commendations from industry leaders for establishing a ‘Quality Club’ at the institute. Among the participants, two members of the BIT Sindri team, Jheel Chourasia, a third-year Electrical Engineering student, and Divyanshu Kumar, a third-year Civil Engineering student, garnered high praise for their creative contributions.

Recognition for excellence in quality education

Jheel Chourasia was awarded a certificate of appreciation for her article titled, “How to Equip Students with Quality Concepts and Tools to Enhance Their Readiness for the Industry.” Her innovative work has set a new standard for educational excellence.

Meanwhile, Divyanshu Kumar received commendations for his valuable insights, highlighting the calibre of talent at BIT Sindri.

Emphasis on quality management

Prominent figures at the event included Venu Srinivasan, M. Chandrasekaran, and S.N. Subrahmanyan. The experts collectively underscored India’s transition from small ‘q’ to big ‘Q’ in quality management, reflecting a growing commitment to excellence in various sectors.

Soumitra Bhattacharya, CEO and director of IFQM, highly commended BIT Sindri’s ‘Quality Club’ initiative led by Prof. Ghanshyam.

“The initiative aims to integrate quality management principles into both academic and extracurricular activities for preparing students for the demands of the industry,” said Prof. Ghanshyam during the symposium.

Gratitude for support and mentorship

Prof. Ghanshyam expressed heartfelt thanks to Tata Steel for providing BIT Sindri the opportunity to participate in this prestigious event. He also extended special gratitude to Ankur Gandotra for his invaluable mentorship and guidance throughout their journey.

He added that participation in the IFQM Symposium 2024 marks a significant milestone in the professional growth of BIT Sindri’s team. “Our institution and team remain committed to continuing their journey of learning, leadership, and contributing to India’s future through quality education and innovation.”
