Jharkhand News: PJMCH Dumka holds ‘White Coat Ceremony’ for new MBBS students

Dhanbad, Oct 25: Phulo Jhano Medical College Hospital (PJMCH) Dumka on Friday organised a White Coat ceremony for the first MBBS batch profession of the institute and administered the Maharshi Charak oath to maintain purity and commitment in the profession.

The convener of the programme, Dr Sashibala Nag, HoD, biochemistry administered the oath and made them aware of the importance of ‘The White Coat ceremony as well as Maharshi Charak Sapath in medical life.

On the occasion, Principal Dr Arun Kumar Choudhary, Superintendent Dr Ajay Kumar Choudhary and HoD of different faculties addressed the students and shed light on the importance of purity, ethics, dedication and commitment of a doctor in professional life.

“The White Coat ceremony is the symbolic entrance of medical students into the medical profession.  It signifies the beginning of your journey to become a doctor. So, follow the oath you took today in professional life,” said Principal Dr Choudhary to the new MBBS students.

On the occasion, HoD anatomy Dr NK Karmali,  HoD Pathology Dr M Baitha, HoD microbiology Dr Vikash Oraon, HoD gynaecology Dr Rani Soren, Dr M Purti, Dr  M Srivastava, Dr Priyanka  Hansda, Dr GS Banerjee and other HoD also addressed and shed light on the importance of White Coat ceremony in the life of  MBBS students.

The convener of the programme, Dr Nag, said that the ‘White Coat’ ceremony was part of the Foundation Course of the National Medical Commission (NMC). Under the course, different sports and other activities and competitions were organised for the students.
