Jharkhand Weather: Cyclone Dana weakens, light rain forecast at many places today

Jamshedpur, Oct 26: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast of light rain at many places today.

Weathermen of the Met centre ruled out possibility of heavy rain in the next 24 hours as Cyclone Dana, which made a landfall in Odisha coast yesterday is gradually becoming weak.

The severe cyclonic storm -Dana-moved north-northwestwards after landfall  and weakened into a cyclonic storm over north coastal Odisha and lay centred near latitude 21.20°N and longitude 86.70°E , about 30 Km northeast of Bhadrak and 50 Km north-northwest of Dhamara.

The maximum sustained wind speed around the centre of the cyclone was about 80-90kmph gusting to 100kmph.

The cyclone is moving northwestwards across north Odisha and will likely weaken gradually into a deep depression and then depression during the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall was observed at many places over the state during the past two days while heavy rainfall was also witnessed at isolated places over the state.

The highest rainfall of 71.2 mm was recorded at Gurabandha in East Singhbhum district.
