Ranchi, Nov 13: By 11 AM in the first phase of the Assembly elections, Jharkhand registered a voter turnout of 29.31 per cent, as per Election Commission of India (ECI) data.

As of 11 AM, Khunti district recorded the highest voter turnout at 34.12 per cent, while Ramgarh district had the lowest at 24.17 per cent, according to ECI data.

After Khunti, voter turnout was 33.86 per cent in Gumla, 33.44 per cent in Lohardaga, 33.18 per cent in Simdega, 32.65 per cent in Seraikella-Kharsawan, 31.10 per cent in Koderma, 30.59 per cent in Latehar, and 30.38 per cent in Garhwa.

The voter turnout for Chatra was 29.52 per cent, Hazaribagh recorded 29.60 per cent, West Singhbhum saw 29.42 per cent, Palamu had 28.36 per cent, East Singhbhum recorded 28.34 per cent, and Ranchi recorded 24.75 per cent turnout.

663 candidates in fray in first phase

The voting for the first phase of the Jharkhand Assembly elections began today at 7 AM across 43 assembly constituencies. Voting is underway in a total of 43 constituencies, including five in Ranchi district.

The fate of 683 candidates in the electoral race will be decided by 13,710,717 voters, including 6,873,455 men, 6,836,959 women, and 303 third-gender voters. Of the 683 candidates, 609 are men, 73 are women, and one belongs to the third gender.

The Election Commission of India reported a voter turnout of 13.04 per cent by 9 AM in the first phase of the Jharkhand Assembly elections.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has deployed thousands of security personnel to ensure peaceful voting. Additionally, 18,000 GPS-equipped high-tech vehicles are being monitored, along with surveillance through webcasting.
