Jamshedpur, Nov 23: Purnima Sahu, BJP candidate from Jamshedpur East and daughter-in-law of Odisha governor Raghubar Das, has won the assembly polls by a convincing margin.
She defeated Congress veteran and former MP Ajoy Kumar.
Looking emotional after her victory, Purnima said outside the counting centre that her victory was a blessing of the people of her constituency.
She said her success in the polls from this coveted constituency is a victory for the elderly, women and the youth.

She expressed hope that she will continue to get the blessings of the people.
Expressing gratitude towards the party’s central leadership for giving her the ticket, Purnima said that she would like to be the support of the elderly and the voice of women and youth of this region.
Regarding her priorities, she said that solving the problems of the people of slums would be her top priority.
The final figures were yet to arrive. Counting took place for 21 rounds.
At the end of 15 rounds, she was leading with a margin of 33,529 votes. At the end of 15 rounds she got 79,359 votes as against Congress candidate Ajoy Kumar’s 45,830 votes.
