The Supreme Court was hearing a PIL that challenged the Election Commission of India’s communications, which raised the maximum number of electors per polling station from 1,200 to 1,500.

Senior advocate Maninder Singh, representing the Election Commission of India, informed the bench that the number of electors per polling station was increased to 1,500 in 2019, and no objections had been raised until now. He also mentioned that political parties are consulted before finalizing the decision for each booth.
