Jharkhand News: BIT Sindri holds paper presentation contest ‘Alchemy’

Dhanbad, Dec 2: The Department of Metallurgical Engineering at BIT Sindri commenced its two-day paper presentation contest, ‘Alchemy 2024’, on Monday.

The opening session featured second-year students presenting on two critical topics: ‘Heat Recovery from Different Metallurgical Processes’ and ‘Application of Machine Learning for Predicting Corrosion Behaviour.’ These presentations highlighted innovative solutions and interdisciplinary approaches, reflecting the participants’ technical expertise and research capabilities.

Dr B.N. Roy, Head of the Department of Metallurgical Engineering, highlighted the active participation of students from various departments, stating that their diverse perspectives and interdisciplinary approaches significantly enriched the discussions during the contest.

The event was organised under the guidance of Dr Roy and supported by faculty mentors, including Dr A.K. Rajak, Dr Sangram Hembrom, Prof. Md. Izhar Hussain, Dr Nand Kishore Kumar, Prof. Kirty Madhavi, Prof. Babul Das, and Dr Sumit Kumar.

Participants impressed faculty members and experts with their innovative ideas and technical insights, demonstrating their potential to contribute significantly to academic and industrial advancements.

Dr Roy announced that the second day of ‘Alchemy’ would take place tomorrow in the department’s seminar hall. “It promises to be another day of dynamic ideas, thought-provoking discussions, and an opportunity to witness the brilliance of young minds,” he said.

The event underscores the department’s commitment to fostering research-oriented learning and providing a platform for students to excel in their academic and professional journeys.
