New Delhi, Dec 6: Surendra Pal Singh Bittu dealt a major setback to Congress ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections by joining the Aam Aadmi Party on Friday in the presence of former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
Former two-time MLA from Timarpur Assembly constituency was welcomed into the party by Manish Sisodia.
Manish Sisodia expressed that Bittu’s decision to join the Aam Aadmi Party was inspired by the party’s impactful work. Sisodia highlighted Bittu’s significant political experience, mentioning that he has previously served as both an MLA and a councillor twice.

Upon joining AAP, Bittu said, “Aam Aadmi Party understands the pain of every person. Arvind Kejriwal is the messiah of the poor. That’s why I also want to move forward with the work of AAP.”
Delhi’s assembly elections are expected to take place in early 2025, though the Election Commission has not yet declared the official dates.
Delhi last held its Assembly elections in February 2020 in which the AAP won 62 out of the 70 Assembly seats.
