Jamshedpur, Dec 10: The Bihar Start-Up Summit held in Bangalore witnessed a significant announcement from Udayan Kumar Singh, Managing Director of Kumar Organics, about a ₹300 crore investment in Bihar. Singh, the event’s chief guest, highlighted the state’s changing landscape, encouraging entrepreneurs to explore opportunities in Makhana, Magahi Paan, and tourism.

Reflecting on his journey, Singh shared how he migrated from Bihar to Bangalore in 1990, starting a small enterprise that has now expanded to seven units across India. Despite his industrial presence in Karnataka, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, Singh never established a unit in Bihar—until now. “Bihar is changing,” he said, emphasizing the state’s potential for growth.

Singh spotlighted Makhana, a superfood globally recognized for its nutritional value, and urged start-ups to capitalize on its growing demand. He also emphasized the need to bring Bodh Gaya and Bihar’s tourism on the world map. Singh extended his support to investors interested in exploring Bihar’s unique offerings like Magahi Paan.

The summit, jointly organized by the Chandragupta Institute of Management Patna (CIMP)’s innovation wing BIFF, TIE Patna, and Start-Up Legal, included sessions on cross-border investments and new opportunities in Bihar. CIMP Director Dr. Rana Singh and TIE Director Kumud Kumar lauded Bihar’s emerging start-up ecosystem and called for greater participation from entrepreneurs.

Ravi Bhardwaj, founder of Start-Up Legal, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming response to the summit, which saw participation from over 100 representatives, including Scott Fox, CEO of Start-Up Council USA, and Anshuman Sinha, founder of Start-Up Steroid. Sessions were led by industry experts such as Sanjay Jha, Deepak Gupta, and Kartik Chaudhary.

Focus on Jharkhand’s tourism potential

Jamshedpur entrepreneur Kartik Chaudhary emphasized Jharkhand’s untapped tourism opportunities, calling for efforts to showcase the region’s natural beauty on the global stage. Chaudhary revealed plans to meet with Jharkhand government officials and announced an upcoming OTT festival in Ranchi.

The summit underscored Bihar and Jharkhand’s potential as emerging hubs for entrepreneurship, urging collaboration to unlock new possibilities in both states.
