Ranchi, Sept 16: Australian Consul General in Kolkata Bernard Lynch met Chief Minister Hemant Soren at the Chief Minister’s official residence on Kanke Road, Ranchi, on Wednesday, with discussions focusing on strengthening cooperation between Jharkhand and Australia in key sectors.
The meeting was a courtesy call during which Soren and Lynch discussed possibilities for expanding bilateral engagement and developing strategic partnerships in areas of mutual interest.
The discussions covered education, minerals, skill development, investment, culture, sports and tourism. The interaction also explored areas where greater cooperation between Jharkhand and Australia could create opportunities for investment, knowledge exchange and capacity building.
State Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar and Angelina Nair, Senior Research and Visit Officer at the Australian Consulate-General, Kolkata, were present during the meeting.

Lynch Meets Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar
Lynch also paid a courtesy visit to Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar at Lok Bhawan in Ranchi.
During the meeting, the Governor and the Australian Consul General discussed India-Australia relations and areas of potential cooperation in Jharkhand, including tourism, culture, education and skill development.
Gangwar highlighted Jharkhand’s tourism potential, citing its mountains, lakes, waterfalls, reservoirs and forest areas, along with its rich tribal and cultural heritage.
The Governor said greater cooperation between India and Australia could benefit Jharkhand across various sectors.
The meetings come amid efforts to explore stronger international partnerships for Jharkhand in areas including education, skills, minerals, investment, tourism and cultural exchange.
