Ranchi, Dec 10: Thousands of people gathered here today to protest against the atrocities on minorities, particularly Hindus, in Bangladesh.

The event, organised under the leadership of the Sarv Sanatan Samaj, saw participation from various social, cultural, and religious organisations, including Chinmaya Mission, Akhil Bharatiya Sant Samaj Samiti, Main Road Gurudwara, Shwetambar Jain Samaj, Buddhist Society, Tribal Community, Bengali Association, Janjati Vikas Parishad, Vidyarthi Parishad, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Ekal Vidyalaya, and Vanvasi Kalyan Kendra.

The protest started from Morhabadi Ground and proceeded through Firayalal Chowk to Raj Bhavan, where it culminated in a massive gathering. The protest march transformed into a rally at Raj Bhavan, led by Vijay Kumar, where speeches were delivered by various prominent personalities.

 Key Highlights of the Protest:

  1. Unified Protest Across Communities:

Over 10,000 people participated in the protest, including representatives from Hindu, Sikh, Jain, and Sanatani communities. The event highlighted unity among different communities against the injustice faced by Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh.

  1. Call for Justice:

Social activist Soma Oraon emphasised the urgency of addressing the rising atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh, warning that such situations could spill over to neighbouring regions if not checked. She called for stringent action against perpetrators.

Rakesh Lal, another social activist, reminded the gathering of Bangladesh’s historical connection with India and condemned the ongoing violence against Hindus, particularly ISKCON devotees. He called for revoking Nobel laureate Yunus Khan’s Peace Prize, citing the irony of peace being absent in his homeland.

  1. Concern Over Human Rights Violations

Mithleshwar Mishra, state secretary of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, expressed deep anguish over the violation of human rights in Bangladesh. He highlighted the Hindu philosophy of universal brotherhood and called for global attention to the crisis.

Vinod Gadayan urged the international community to take firm steps to address the human rights abuses in Bangladesh.

  1. Appeal to Authorities:

A delegation comprising Bhuteshanand Ji Maharaj, Sardar Bikram Singh, Pawan Lama, Vinod Jain, Swami Paripurnanand Maharaj, and others submitted a memorandum to the Governor. The memorandum demanded:

Immediate cessation of atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh.

Release of ISKCON monk Chinmoy Krishna Das.

Protection of minority rights under UDHR Article 18.
