Jamshedpur, Dec 11: An awareness campaign was launched against illegal cultivation and trade of opium in Raijama, Torodih villages and Hudangada market in Kharsawan police station area following a directive from Seraikela-Kharsawan district administration.
The campaign was led by Kharsawan police station in-charge Gaurav Kumar, who informed the villagers in detail about the ill effects and legal consequences of opium cultivation and trade.
During the campaign, Gaurav Kumar said that illegal cultivation of opium not only harms personal life but also has serious effects on society.
He explained to the villagers that this narcotic substance is not only harmful for health, but due to it many families face social and economic crises.
Along with this, he also made them aware of the legal provisions and punishment applicable to it.

Encouraging alternative farming for a sustainable future
During the campaign, the police called upon the villagers to give up opium cultivation and adopt alternative and profitable farming.
They assured that all possible help would be provided to start alternative farming. On this occasion, the villagers were told that alternative farming will not only increase their income but will also make their lives more sustainable and secure.
The station in-charge clarified that the main objective of this campaign is to stop the illegal cultivation of opium and make the villagers aware of its dangers.
This initiative not only ensures compliance with the law, but also motivates the villagers to adopt a positive lifestyle.
The police appealed to the local community to immediately share information about any illegal activity. Also, cooperate in bringing positive change in society by adopting alternative farming.
