Dhanbad, Dec 16: Senior Congress leader and State Disciplinary Committee chairman Brajendra Prasad Singh has raised concerns over the alleged practice of hospitals charging treatment fees from Ayushman cardholder patients. He has written to the state government, urging them to take action against such hospitals.

Singh, who is also the state Congress vice-president, stated that he has received numerous complaints from across the state about registered hospitals not only demanding treatment charges from Ayushman cardholders but also mistreating them.

“It is a matter of concern and the government must take stern action against private hospitals, as the government pays the treatment cost of Ayushman cardholder patients directly to them,” Singh said.

He further emphasized that the government should ensure that private hospitals registered under the Ayushman scheme across the state provide proper health services to cardholders, especially those above 70 years of age, and do not neglect them.

Brajendra Prasad Singh, who also serves as the deputy chairman of the Dhanbad District 20-Point Programme, has urged Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner Madhwi Mishra to identify such hospitals in the district and take immediate action. He has also called for the cancellation of their registration if they are found guilty.

According to the complaints, some private hospitals across the state have been charging treatment fees from patients, claiming that the government has not released pending bills for insurance.
