New Delhi, Dec 20: Today marks the final day of Parliament’s Winter Session. Following high-voltage drama outside Parliament, proceedings in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha commenced.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla urged MPs to uphold the dignity of the House and issued strict instructions. He stated that no political party, MP, or group of MPs would stage demonstrations or protests at any gate of the Parliament building.
Amid intense uproar, the Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned indefinitely. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also present in the House during the ongoing protests.

One Nation, One Election Bill referred to JPC
Earlier, Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal proposed sending the Constitution (129th Amendment) Bill, 2024 and the Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024 to a joint committee of both Houses for further examination and deliberation.
Following this, the two bills aimed at amending the Constitution to enable ‘One Nation, One Election’ by 2034 were referred to a 39-member Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on Friday.
Despite the commotion in the House, the motion, which included 27 Lok Sabha members, was approved. The committee will consist of 12 Rajya Sabha members.
The Committee will deliver its report to the Lok Sabha by the first day of the final week of the next session.
