Ranchi, Dec 29: At just 17 years old, Kaamya Karthikeyan has achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the youngest girl in the world to complete the prestigious Seven Summits Challenge.

“I hope my journey inspires others to pursue their passions,” Kaamya Karthikeyan said, exuding humility and determination.

Kaamya’s mountaineering journey began at the young age of 13, driven by an insatiable thirst for adventure and an unyielding determination to push her limits.

One of the defining moments of her journey came in May 2024, when she successfully scaled Mount Everest, the tallest peak in the world. This feat marked a crowning achievement in her quest to conquer the Seven Summits.

Climbing alongside her father, Commander S. Karthikeyan of the Indian Navy, Kaamya reached a personal milestone and became a beacon of inspiration for countless individuals who look up to her determination and passion.

Everest Summit program

Rajeev Gupta, founder of the Ideate Inspire Ignite Foundation in Ranchi, recognized the magnitude of Kaamya’s achievement and invited her to share her story at the Everest Summit program on August 18, 2024.

The event, which brought together 18 Everest summiteers from across India, celebrated courage, resilience, and the transformative power of adventure sports. The foundation has long been committed to fostering a spirit of exploration and inspiration in Ranchi and Jharkhand, hosting similar programs in past years to honour mountaineers and inspire local communities.

Kaamya’s achievement is a proud moment not only for India but also for the world. Her journey to conquer the Seven Summits took her to the highest peaks of every continent: Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, Mount Elbrus in Europe, Mount Kosciuszko in Australia, Mount Aconcagua in South America, Mount Denali in North America, Mount Everest in Asia, and finally Mount Vinson in Antarctica in 2024. Each summit came with its own set of challenges, testing her physical endurance, mental strength, and adaptability. Through her climbs, Kaamya gained valuable life lessons about resilience, determination, and the incredible beauty of our planet.

Kaamya credits her success to support of parents

Kaamya credits her success to the unwavering support of her parents, particularly her father, who has been a guiding force throughout her journey. She has dedicated her achievement to dreamers everywhere, emphasizing that no goal is too ambitious when pursued with passion and determination.

Now that she has conquered the Seven Summits, Kaamya is setting her sights on the Explorer’s Grand Slam—a formidable challenge that requires reaching both the North and South Poles and completing the Seven Summits. With her ambition and proven track record, Kaamya is well-positioned to join the ranks of the world’s elite adventurers.

Rajeev Gupta reaffirmed his commitment to hosting the Everest Summit program annually in Ranchi, ensuring that inspiring stories like Kaamya’s continue igniting future generations’ imaginations. The city eagerly awaits Kaamya’s return, as her journey represents the limitless possibilities that arise when determination meets opportunity.
