Dhanbad, Jan 4: No candidates withdrew their nominations on the final day, January 4, for the Jharkhand State Health Services Association (JSHSA) elections, which are scheduled for January 20.

Chief Election Commissioner Dr. Lal Majhi, also the Deputy Director of Health, confirmed that since no withdrawals occurred, all four election committee members will scrutinize the nominations tomorrow, January 5, and proceed with preparing the ballot papers.

Unanimous Elections for Key Positions

Several key positions in the JSHSA elections have been decided without competition. The following members were elected unopposed:

  • President: Dr. Bimlesh Kumar
  • Vice Presidents (7 out of 8 positions):
    • Dr. Ravi Raj (Dental wing)
    • Dr. Mossarat Yamini (Female wing)
    • Dr. Shamim Akhtar (Headquarters)
    • Dr. Anupam Kishore (South Chhotanagpur Division)
    • Dr. Sanjay Kumar (North Chhotanagpur)
    • Dr. Ansuman Sagar (Palamu)
    • Dr. Mohan Paswan (Santhal Division)
  • Treasurer: Dr. Stephen Xess (Ranchi) – re-elected for a second consecutive term
  • Joint Secretaries (7 positions):
    • Dr. Ajit Kumar (Headquarters, Ranchi)
    • Dr. Dinesh Chandra Sawaiyan (Kolhan Division, Chaibasa)
    • Dr. Bal Krishna Mahto (South Chhotanagpur, Gumla)
    • Dr. Rahul Kumar (North Chhotanagpur, Hazaribagh)
    • Dr. Chaman Kumar (Palamu)
    • Dr. Ranvijay Kumar (Santhal Pargana, Sahebganj)
    • Dr. Diksha Singhal (Dental wing, Chakradharpur)

Election Committee to Announce Winners on Sunday

The election committee will officially announce the winners on Sunday.

Contests for Convener, Secretary, and Kolhan Vice-President Posts

Elections will still be held for three key positions:

  1. Convener (3 candidates):
    • Dr. Sharad Kumar (Deoghar)
    • Dr. Sidheshwar Baskey (Ranchi)
    • Dr. Santosh Kumar (Ranchi)
  2. Secretary (2 candidates):
    • Dr. Thakur Mritunjay Kumar Singh (Ramgarh)
    • Dr. Krishna Murari Singh (Ranchi)
    • Note: Dr. Thakur Mritunjay Kumar Singh defeated Dr. Mritunjay Kumar Singh in the 2022 elections.
  3. Kolhan Vice-President (2 candidates):
    • Dr. Shahid Anwar (Jamshedpur)
    • Dr. Jagannath Hembram (Jamshedpur)
    • Both candidates have refused to compromise despite efforts to avoid an election.

A contentious election is also set for the Kolhan Division Vice-President post, with Dr. Shahid Anwar (Jamshedpur) and Dr. Jagannath Hembram (Jamshedpur) refusing to compromise.

Despite efforts from senior JSHSA members in Kolhan and Ranchi headquarters to avoid an election, sources reveal that both candidates believe the voting process will encourage greater participation from members in the region’s activities.
