Jamshedpur, Jan 7: A 10-year-old girl was killed in an IED blast inside a jungle near Tirilposhi village under Jeraikela thana area in West Singhbhum, about 180 km away from here on Tuesday morning.
The victim who was a resident of Tirilposhi village had gone over to the nearby forest cover to collect firewood as the blast took place.
Soon after the incident villagers had informed the police, leading the latter to reach the spot having followed SOP.

According to police, the girl while on a firewood collection spree had unfortunately stepped over the pressure bomb, triggering the blast. The girl had died instantly.
After a company of paramilitary forces reached the spot, the police got the body removed from the blast scene and pressed the paramilitary forces to swing into action.
The police and paramilitary forces are trying to trace the Naxals responsible for the blast.
It may be mentioned here that CPI-Maoist rebels had planted an unspecified number of IEDs across Saranda, targeting police and paramilitary forces, but one of the explosive devices claimed the life of the minor girl.
