Ranchi, Jan 11: JMM Chief Shibu Soren celebrated his 81st birthday at his official residence in Ranchi on Saturday, with an unexpected display of cross-party greetings. Notably, BJP leaders Raghubar Das and Champai Soren were present to convey their best wishes alongside Chief Minister Hemant Soren and other prominent dignitaries.
BJP leader and former Odisha Governor Raghubar Das visited Shibu Soren and greeted him with respect, bowing before him as Soren sat on a chair. Das also presented a bouquet to Soren’s wife, Roopi Soren, who blessed him by touching his head.
Das later took to social media to share his wishes, writing: “Today, I met Dishom Guru, former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, respected Baba Shri Shibu Soren Ji, and wished him a very happy birthday. I also sought blessings from Aunty Roopi Soren Ji. Prayed to Baba Baidyanath for their long and healthy lives. May the pair remain unbroken, like Shiva and Parvati.”
Champai Soren, who left the JMM to join the BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, also visited Shibu Soren to wish him good health and a long life. Champai shared a photo of their meeting on social media platform X, writing: “Hearty congratulations and best wishes to Dishom Guru, respected Shibu Soren Ji, on his birthday. I pray to Marang Buru for your good health and long life.”
Hemant Soren Calls the Day Significant for the State
Chief Minister Hemant Soren described the day as important for Jharkhand, saying: “Guruji’s name is enough—it symbolizes a gem for the poor, tribal, and backward communities.”
He added: “Guruji Shibu Soren is now 81 years old. On his birthday, there is visible enthusiasm in all districts, including at his residence. We all pray for Dishom Guruji’s long life.”
Earlier in the day, Shibu Soren cut a birthday cake in the presence of Hemant Soren and several other dignitaries. The event was attended by MLA Basant Soren, MLA Kalpana Soren, Minister Irfan Ansari, Minister Hafizul Hasan, former Congress state president Rajesh Thakur, JMM General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya, Vinod Pandey, Manoj Pandey, Mithilesh Thakur, MP Mahua Maji, and numerous supporters.
Babulal Marandi Extends Wishes
BJP state president Babulal Marandi also conveyed his greetings to Shibu Soren through a social media post. He wrote: “Heartiest birthday wishes to JMM Central President and former Chief Minister Shri Shibu Soren Ji. I pray to Baba Baidyanath for your good health and long life.”
