Hazaribag, Nov. 30: Union Home Minister Amit Shah today arrived here to attend the 59th Raising Day of the Border Security Force (BSF) at its training centre Meru, 10 km from here.
BSF DG Nitin Agarwal, addressing a press conference, said that BSF soldiers and officers have been involved in all the preparations for the ceremony a month in advance.
He said a parade will also be organised tomorrow by the soldiers protecting the country in different parts of the country in which BSF jawans will demonstrate their duties from the helicopter, along with motorcycles, horses, squad dogs and camels.
He said BSF was established on December 1, 1965. “This year’s Foundation Day is a matter of pride for Hazaribagh and the entire Jharkhand as it is going to be organised at the Border Security Force Training Centre located at Meru,” he added.
Earlier, the Border Security Force celebrated its foundation day in Delhi. But for the last two years, it has been celebrated in training centres of BSF at different locations of the country.
This is the third such grand show of BSF with the first being in Jaisalmer in 2021 and second in Amritsar in 2022 and now in Hazaribagh.
He said that throughout the year, BSF performed many functions in many parts of the country including the Pakistan border and Bangladesh border.
Throughout the year, the BSF foiled many infiltrations in the border area, seized drugs worth crores, and also shot down many Chinese drones which were flying from Pakistan to India.
“In the coming years, BSF will make efforts to increase participation of more and more women in BSF. All frontier men and women contingents of BSF will participate in the program of the 59th Foundation Day of BSF.
In the programme, first of all, the martyrs will be remembered at the Martyr Memorial, then the motorcycle team of Seema Bhawani and Jambaaz, artillery, helicopters of BSF Air Wing, horsemen, camels, trained dogs, tear gas unit Tekanpur, demonstration of Mirchi Bomb and paragliding will be held in this program. Apart from this, various cultural programs including many dances like Kalaripayattu, Khadiya, Maniyaro Raas folk dance will be performed in the programme.
