SUBHASH MISHRA

Dhanbad, Jan 30: Gangasagar Yadav (65), a resident of Bhuli Shyam Nagar in Dhanbad, who went missing 27 years ago, has been found at the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela, now living as an Aghori Sadhu with a Sadhvi.

However, Gangasagar, who now identifies as Baba Rajkumar Aghori, has denied being the same person. His wife, Dhanwa Devi, along with their two sons and his brothers, have been camping at Kumbh Nagar, trying to persuade him to acknowledge his old identity.

Younger brother spotted Gangasagar

According to Murli Yadav, Gangasagar’s younger brother, a relative who visited the Kumbh Mela spotted him there. The relative took a photo and sent it to the family in Bhuli Shyam Nagar, Dhanbad. Upon seeing the picture, family members, including Dhanwa Devi and her sons, rushed to the Kumbh Mela, where they identified him.

Despite their insistence, Baba Rajkumar Aghori refused to recognize Dhanwa Devi as his wife or Kamlesh and Vimlesh as his sons. His family, however, is certain about his identity, pointing to distinguishing features such as his long teeth and a scar on his forehead.

When Gangasagar continued to deny knowing them, the family reported the matter to the Kumbh Mela police.

Demand for a DNA test

“We will wait until the Kumbh Mela ends and then demand a DNA test to prove he is Gangasagar Yadav. If the test confirms our claim, he will have to accept us as his family. If it does not, we will apologize to the Baba,” said Murli Yadav.

Some family members have returned home, while others remain at the Kumbh Mela, closely monitoring Baba Rajkumar Aghori and his Sadhvi. After the festival concludes, they plan to take legal action.

Missing Since 1998

According to the family, Gangasagar went to Patna in 1998 and never returned. Relatives searched for him across Bihar and other states but found no trace. At the time, his elder son was only two years old, while his younger son was still in the womb.
