Ranchi, Feb 3: Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari attended the Saraswati Puja celebrations at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi, today. He commended the MBBS students and the Junior Doctors Association (JDA) for organizing the festival with devotion and enthusiasm.
Dr. Ansari, who arrived on time, spent quality time with the students and junior doctors during the celebration. He encouraged the participants and assured his support for next year’s event.
A Historic Occasion for RIMS
This marked the first time a state Health Minister attended the Saraswati Puja organized by MBBS students at RIMS. Dr. Ansari was invited by the JDA delegation, led by Dr. Ankit Kumar, and accepted the invitation with enthusiasm.

Alongside him, Ranchi Sadar MLA CP Singh, senior political leaders, and government officials also joined the celebrations at RIMS.

Health Minister’s Intervention Saves the Festival
The festival was initially at risk after RIMS management imposed a ban on organizing Saraswati Puja on January 24. This decision led to protests from the MBBS students and the JDA.
The Junior Doctors Association, along with the state body of IMA Junior Doctors Network (JDN), urged Dr. Ansari to intervene and revoke the management’s order.
As the chairman of the RIMS governing body, Dr. Ansari instructed the management to withdraw the ban, allowing the festival to take place.
A Well-Organized Celebration Despite Time Constraints
Although the 2022 batch of MBBS students was supposed to organize the Puja this year (2025), they could not due to their examination schedule. As a result, the responsibility was taken up by the 2023 batch of MBBS students.
A female MBBS student from the 2023 batch mentioned that although they had limited time, the arrangements were made smoothly and on schedule. The efforts of the organizing team were praised by senior guests and visitors for their excellent management.
