XLRI Jamshedpur wins Fr Enright Cricket Tournament

Jamshedpur, Feb 3: XLRI Jamshedpur successfully conducted the 2nd edition of Fr Enright Cricket Tournament (X-FECT) at XLRI grounds.

The final match showcased a thrilling competition between XLRI BMHR and Vintage Warriors (DTDC) in the men’s category, with XLRI BMHR emerging as the champions, winning by 26 runs.

The Blank Panthers (KFMS) secured 3rd position. Nikhil of XLRI BMHR bagged the Man of the Match award for his superb performance of scoring 61 runs from 20 balls.

In the Women’s Category, for the first position, XL Gliders played against XL Strikers, with XL Gliders emerging as the Champions, winning by 44 runs. Samreen Siddiqui was declared Player of the Match. Siddiqui scored 43 runs of 19 balls.

Outstanding Performances and Award Winners

The closing ceremony was attended by XLRI faculty, staff, students, sponsors and well-wishers. The winners received a memento, trophy and cash prizes for categories such as Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Best Fielder, Most Sixes and Most Valuable Player.

In the women category, Sanchi of XL-Gliders was declared the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

In the men’s category, Most Sixes, Best Batsman and Man of the Tournament awards were bagged by Lalit Sejwal. Sejwal scored 389 runs which consisted of 49 sixes in just four innings.

The highest number of catches award went to Vighneshwaran impacting 11 victims.

Rohit Paulos of the Loyola Alumni Association received the Best Bowler Award picking up 14 wickets in the tournament.

A Celebration of “Play for a Cause”

 

X-FECT 2025 was organized with the theme “Play for a Cause” – promoting values of Caring and Sharing.

The tournament received overwhelming support from the amateur crickets and generous benefactors.

Altogether, 14 teams participated in the tournament. Women Cricketers added color to the tournament as they joined the tournament in its second edition.

Overall, the tournament proved to be an exciting event for the amateur crickets, staff and students of XLRI and other XLRI stakeholders, providing them with an opportunity not only to engage in healthy physical activity., but also raise awareness of caring and sharing – giving back to the society by ‘playing for a cause’.
