Jharkhand News: JSERC holds public hearing on Tata Steel UISL’s power tariff petition

Jamshedpur, Feb 12: A public hearing was conducted by Jharkhand State Electricity Regulatory Commission (JSERC) for the power tariff petition of Tata Steel UISL for licensed area of Seraikela-Kharsawan.

The public hearing was held as a process for True-up of FY 2023-24, Annual Performance Review for FY 2024-25 & ARR and Tariff Determination for FY 2025-26.

The public hearing held on Tuesday was chaired by member legal Mahendra Prasad and member technical Atul Kumar of Jharkhand State Electricity Regulatory Commission. The public hearing was attended by several domestic, commercial and industrial consumers.

Senior officials of Tata Steel UISL attended the hearing and responded to the suggestions/queries during the hearing.

Presentation on Tariff Adjustments

Sanjay Gautam, Divisional Manager, presented the gist of the petition filed before the regulatory commission and the requirements of appropriate tariffs to ensure tariff stability and sustainable operations.

During the hearing, a presentation was also made on the network expansion plans to cater to the future as well as existing power demand in the area.

Tata Steel UISL presented that the existing tariff is not appropriate to recover the expected cost of FY26 therefore some tariff adjustment is required (~3%) for timely recovery of cost and sustainable operations.

Subsequent to the presentation, members of JSERC invited the audience for suggestions, objections and comments related to the filed petition.
