Ranchi, Feb 17: BJP state spokesperson Rafia Naz has strongly criticized the Jharkhand government for spending heavily on tourism events while neglecting the basic needs of the public. She urged the state to focus on essential services instead of costly extravaganzas.

Skydiving Festival 2025: An Event for the Elite?

Naz, a Yoga teacher, specifically raised concerns over the Skydiving Festival 2025, calling it an expensive event beyond the reach of the common people. With a participation cost of ₹28,000 per person, she questioned whether such initiatives truly promote tourism or merely cater to a privileged few.

“This expensive event is not just a distant dream for the poor and middle class, but also reflects the misplaced priorities of the government,” she stated.

Double Standards in Budget Allocation

Naz accused the government of contradicting itself—spending crores on tourism and cultural programs while simultaneously citing budget shortages for public welfare and development projects.

“The government claims it lacks funds for essential services, yet it spends crores on such events. This exposes its double standards,” she remarked.

Past Irregularities Ignored

She also pointed out that financial irregularities were exposed during audits of similar events last year, yet no corrective measures were taken.

“If the government claims to have a budget crisis, why is money being wasted on such extravagant events? This is a clear example of financial mismanagement,” she said.

BJP Demands Focus on Public Welfare

Naz urged the government to prioritize real issues affecting the people instead of organizing costly tourism events.

“The state should focus on providing basic facilities for schoolchildren, launching pension schemes for widowed women, and ensuring timely payment of pending salaries for government employees,” she demanded.

Questions for the Government

Naz posed direct questions to the state government:

• Why is there a lack of basic facilities in schools?
• Why are widow and old-age pension schemes not functioning properly?
• Why is unemployment rising while funds are spent on luxury tourism events?

Basic Needs Must Come First

She emphasized that the government must ensure every citizen receives subsidized rations and that pending government salaries are cleared immediately.

“If the basic needs of the people are not met, these expensive events serve no real purpose,” she concluded.
