Two IAF pilots die after aircraft crashes in Telangana

Medak, Dec 4: A Pilatus trainer aircraft crashed near Toopran town in the Medak district of Telangana on Monday morning, killing two Indian Air Force (IAF) pilots in the process, IAF officials stated.

Officials report that the crash occurred at approximately 8:55 am during a training session at the Air Force Academy near Dindigul district. The individuals involved in the incident comprise an instructor and a cadet.

“One Pilatus PC 7 Mk Il trainer aircraft met with an accident today morning during a routine training sortie from AFA, Hyderabad. It is with deep regret that (the) IAF confirms that both the pilots on board have sustained fatal injuries,” the IAF said in a statement.

According to SP Medak, Rohini, the plane crashed near Toopran.

“It’s a Training Aircraft from Dundigul airport. There were two people inside the aircraft, one trainer and a trainee. The airport staff and clue team are on the spot. The fire fighters doused the fire,” SP Rohini said.

“They are trying to find out if there are any survivors. They are combing the area to find if there are body remains. Further details awaited,” the SP further stated.

The cause of the accident remains unknown at this time.

Rajnath Singh, the Defense Minister, expressed his condolences for the pilots’ deaths on X. “Anguished by this accident near Hyderabad. It is deeply saddening that two pilots have lost their lives. In this tragic hour, my thoughts are with the bereaved families,” he wrote on X.
