Tata Steel organises passing out parade for 1st batch of female firefighters

Jamshedpur, Feb 27:  Tata Steel today organised a passing-out parade of the first batch of female firefighters, celebrating a ground-breaking milestone in its journey towards inclusivity and diversity.

The occasion was graced by Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice president, Corporate Services, Tata Steel, Atrayee Sanyal, Vice President Human Resource Management, Tata Steel, Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary, President, Tata Workers’ Union and Jaya Singh Panda, Chief Learning & Development and Chief Diversity Officer, Tata Steel.

Arvind Kumar Sinha, Chief Security & Brand Protection, Tata Steel, welcomed the guests along with other dignitaries and family members.

Chanakya Chaudhary thanked the family members for joining this event and encouraged the morale of women firefighters. He emphasised the use of modern technologies for fire fighting and rescue works and that trial run of these equipment needs to be tested through mock drill.

In her address, Atrayee Sanyal suggested female firefighters to maintain work life balance and appreciated their performance during the parade.

Arvind Kumar Sinha explained the initiative, aptly named ‘Flames of Change’, which symbolises the company’s commitment to transform the cultural landscape of fire services, traditionally dominated by men.

He explained to the audience about the rigorous in-house training at the Fire & Security Training Centre, Jamshedpur followed by an external 16-week certification course in collaboration with the Airports Authority of India, Kolkata.

Jaya Singh Panda spoke about the importance of diversity in Tata Steel and applauded the performance of female firefighters.

Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary appreciated the performance of female firefighters and services provided by the fire services to the communities.

The best and the second best trainees and faculties involved in in-house training orientation were awarded during the function.
