Ranchi, March 7: On the instructions of Union Health Minister JP Nadda, BJP MPs visited Jan Aushadhi Kendras today, interacted with beneficiaries, and gathered information about the benefits of affordable medicines.

MP Deepak Prakash emphasized that the Modi government is dedicated to providing affordable healthcare to the public.

He stated that for the past 10 years, Jan Aushadhi Kendras have been supplying low-cost medicines to the public. This initiative is an ambitious scheme of the central government. Recognizing its importance, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared March 7 as Jan Aushadhi Day.

He further mentioned that awareness programs are being held nationwide from March 1 to 7 to educate people about Jan Aushadhi. As part of this initiative, MPs, MLAs, and other public representatives are visiting Jan Aushadhi Kendras to inform the public about the benefits of the scheme.

Currently, 2,047 generic medicines and 300 surgical products are available at Jan Aushadhi Kendras at prices 70-80% lower than those of branded medicines, making them highly beneficial for the public.

During his visit to the Jan Aushadhi Kendra on the RIMS campus, MP Aditya Sahu noted that more people are now opting to buy medicines from these centres due to their affordability. He highlighted those medicines for diabetes, blood pressure, heart disease, kidney ailments, and other conditions are available at significantly lower prices, which has been particularly beneficial for the poor.

He also pointed out that the number of Jan Aushadhi Kendras is growing every year. By February 2025, 15,000 Kendras will be operational across the country, and this number is expected to rise to 25,000 by March 2027.

Furthermore, he stated that Jan Aushadhi Kendras have collectively saved the country ₹10,000 crore in the last ten years.
