Ranchi, Dec 5: Martin Luther King Jr., one of the greatest persons of the 20th century, posed a question to his countrymen and people the world over, when he said, “Life’s most pertinent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?”

The students of DPS, Ranchi have answered this question emphatically, time and again. The concept of helping those who cannot help themselves is deeply imbibed within the students of this unique institution. This club has organized visits to several slum areas of Ranchi, including the HEC Slum, amongst the largest slums of Ranchi.

The most recent visit by the club took place on November 25. There, the students distributed clothes and books to the deprived children and spread merry, light and most importantly, knowledge. The social service club also fosters a team spirit in the students of DPS, with the day-to-day activities being looked after by the students themselves. Under the guidance of their sagacious teachers, the students of DPS Ranchi, driven by a sense of mission, are out to make a difference, one child and one slum at a time.

The students of DPS, are guided in their mission of social work by the great Edward Everett Hale, who had said more than 150 years ago, “I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do.”
