Jamshedpur, March 25: A traffic and road safety meeting was held at the District Collectorate here today presided over by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ananya Mittal.

Senior SP Kaushal Kishore, ADM Law and Order Aniket S, Dhalbhum SDO Shatabdi Mazumdar, Rural SP Rishabh Garg and City SP Kumar Shivashish were present at the meeting.
Discussions were held on controlling road accidents and implementing the provisions of road safety effectively.

In a review of road accidents, illegal parking on the roadside along the National Highway was found the main cause of driving as well as overspeeding on the wrong side.
Action Plan for Road Safety
The Senior Superintendent of Police said that nine places have been identified in a survey conducted by the police where road accidents are continuously happening.
He suggested hard barricading for concrete action against illegal parking on the highway, installing blinkers near the connecting road found on the highway and stopping overspeeding.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the NHAI officer to take concrete action on the above suggestions. He said that the prevention of road accidents is the priority of the district administration, and all necessary protective measures should be taken on the highway so that there is no loss of life and property.
Also, instructions were given to NHA, JNAC officials and Tata Steel representatives to take special initiatives for the prevention of road accidents in Jemko, Domuhani, MGM and PW Chowk Bahragora.
Deputy Municipal Commissioner JNAC, Traffic DSP and Tata Steel representative were jointly inspected and directed to identify parking sites for heavy vehicles in the Jamko area so that the parking of vehicles is not done on the road.
Traffic Management in Urban Areas
During the review of various points with the aim of facilitating the traffic system in the Jamshedpur urban area, the senior officials of the district were instructed to take effective action against the auto drivers in the Sakchi roundabout.
The meeting discussed the removal of dilapidated buses standing in the Mango bus stand for years and providing basic facilities by temporarily developing ISBT for inter-state buses.

Sub-Divisional Officer Dhalbhum and Mango Municipal Corporation officials were instructed to take the initiative for the construction of a temporary shed for the convenience of passengers in ISBT.
In the month of February this year, 33 road accidents took place in which 25 people died and 20 people were seriously injured.
