Jamshedpur, March 27: In a landmark achievement that has made steel city Jamshedpur proud, local golfer Arush Sabharwal has clinched both the Hero Swing Challenge and the Hero Indian Open Pro-Am 2025 title.
The dual victory underscores a rising chapter in Indian amateur golf and places Sabharwal among the country’s most exciting new talents in the sport.
Hero Indian Open: A Prestigious Stage for Golfers
The Hero Indian Open, India’s premier professional golf tournament, is currently being held at the DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurugram from March 27 to 30.
As part of the DP World Tour’s Asian Swing, the $2.25 million event is a magnet for global talent and has historically served as a stepping stone for Indian golfers aiming to make their mark internationally.
This year’s edition introduced a significant innovation with the launch of the Hero Swing Challenge—a digital-first competition initiated by Hero MotoCorp, the tournament’s title sponsor.
The challenge invited amateur golfers across the country to submit videos showcasing their most creative or unconventional swings.

Sabharwal Shines in the Pro-Am Event
Out of hundreds of entries from across India, Sabharwal’s precise and inventive trick shot secured him one of just six coveted spots to compete in the Hero Indian Open Pro-Am, held on March 26.
Sabharwal was paired with fellow Swing Challenge winner Deep Karan Singh of Jaipur, promising Indian amateur Shon Kipgen, and Eugenio López-Chacarra, a professional golfer from Spain who is fast becoming a recognized name on the DP World Tour.
The team displayed remarkable consistency and flair throughout the Pro-Am round, ultimately going on to win the event—a first for any Hero Swing Challenge participant.
The Pro-Am win is particularly significant given the high level of competition. Played on the same championship course that hosts the main event, the Pro-Am traditionally features an elite mix of professionals, industry leaders, and accomplished amateurs.
Sabharwal’s team emerged victorious by combining technical skill with on-course synergy, gaining praise from players and officials alike.
