Jamshedpur, March 28: While preparation for grand celebrations of Hindu Nava Baras Yatra and Eid-al-Fitr is gearing up, district police has organised a mock drill in view of coping up with any violence, if occurs, during these festivities in the communally sensitive steel city.
A sizable number of policemen participated in the Golmuri Police Line this forenoon when the Senior SP Kishore Kaushal himself supervised the exercise and gave the necessary guidelines to make the effort effective during any emergency.
During the mock drill which continued for over an hour a section of policemen staged a scuffle while another section of gun-tucked policemen were seen swinging into action to deal with the exigency.
Yet another squad of policemen were seen firing tear gas cells at the ‘violent’ crowd whereas several other cops were seen carrying injured to provide them immediate medical relief.

Significantly, the district police continues to hold mock drills during the festivals of Hindus and Muslims, sometimes falling back to back despite instances of strong bonds between the two communities coming across in the public domain regularly.
Hindu Nava Baras is going to be celebrated on March 29 whereas the Eid-al-Fitr falls on March 31.
Grand Procession and Bharat Mata Aarti Planned
Hindu Nava Baras is celebrated here by organising a grand procession. This time the procession is scheduled to begin from Agrico Durga Maidaan to reach the Subhash Maidaan at Aambagan in Sakchi.
Revellers from across the city and beyond are to assemble at the Agrico Maidaan in large numbers before starting the procession, obviously by riding motorcycles and four-wheelers.
The Hindu Nava Baras Yatra functionaries have also decided to hold a grand Bharat Mata Aarti at the Subhash Maidaan in the evening.
