Jamshedpur, April 10: A spell of turbulent weather is expected to sweep across large parts of the state over the next few days, with the meteorological department warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching up to 50 Kmph.
On April 10, hailstorms are likely in isolated areas over the eastern region, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds. Western and adjoining central parts of the state may also experience similar weather.
The southern, eastern, and central regions should brace for thunderstorms and gusty winds of 30–40 kmph on April 11.
The intensity picks up again on April 12 and 13, with eastern and central parts likely facing wind speeds up to 50 kmph.
On April 13, most of the state—except the northwestern region—could be affected.
This unstable weather is being fuelled by a well-marked low-pressure area lingering over the westcentral and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal.
The system, which remains active at mid-tropospheric levels, is expected to move northwards before recurving northeast and weakening gradually over the central Bay of Bengal.
Additionally, a trough extending from southeast Madhya Pradesh to East Gangetic West Bengal, passing through Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, is also contributing to the turbulent weather.
Weatherman at IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre appealed people to stay updated with official forecasts and take necessary precautions during this period of heightened weather activity.
