Dhanbad, April 17: A total of 55 individuals from the Indian Institute of Technology Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad, were honoured for their outstanding achievements in inter-institute, state, and national-level sports and cultural events during 2024-25.
The office of Dean (Students Welfare), IIT (ISM), organized a special felicitation ceremony at the TEXMIN Classroom. Director Prof. Sukumar Mishra, who was the chief guest, praised the commendable performances of students and staff and personally felicitated them for their accomplishments.

Wide Representation Across Disciplines
The event was graced by Deputy Director Prof. Dheeraj Kumar, Registrar Prabodh Pandey, Dean (Students Welfare) Prof. S.K. Gupta, along with other senior faculty members and institute authorities.

According to officials, the 55 honourees included both students and staff who made notable contributions across various disciplines.
Among them were 16 staff members who represented the institute in football at the Inter-IIT Sports Meet 2024, as well as individual student achievers in aquatics and shot put.

Recognition Across Sports and Cultural Platforms
The ceremony also honoured five participants of the Inter-IIT Cultural Meet and five winners of the All India Bushikan Cup. Additionally, 14 athletes from the Jharkhand State Championship were felicitated—comprising three in karate and 11 in weightlifting.

The contributions of seven student contingent leaders from the Inter-IIT Sports Meet 2024 were also recognised, along with six coaches whose support and mentorship were key to the teams’ success.
An official from the institute highlighted that the felicitation ceremony reflected IIT (ISM)’s commitment to nurturing excellence not only in academics but also in sports and cultural pursuits. “It underscores the institute’s vision of promoting holistic development among students and staff alike,” the official added.
