The doctors had begun their indefinite strike at 6 AM on Wednesday, April 23, demanding the arrest of those involved in the attack on Dr Kundan Kumar, who was assaulted at his home on April 20 following the death of a critically ill infant.

The medical bodies had initially given a 48-hour ultimatum, which led to the strike when no action was taken within the timeframe.
