Dhanbad, May 5: Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Satish Chandra Dubey, commended Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL), for achieving a record coal production of 3.39 million tonnes in the month of April.
He lauded the company’s performance and asked officials to begin preparations to meet the ambitious production targets set for the 2025–26 financial year.
BCCL has been assigned a target of 46 million tonnes for FY 2025–26, while the overall target for Coal India Limited stands at 875 million tonnes. The minister encouraged BCCL to strategize early to ensure the successful achievement of these goals.

Minister Reviews Development and CSR Efforts
Chairing a review meeting in Dhanbad on Sunday evening after arriving from Ranchi, Dubey praised BCCL’s efforts in community development, environmental protection, and CSR-related activities. He advised the company to expand its efforts in these areas, acknowledging their significance beyond coal production.
Highlighting the strategic importance of BCCL, the minister said, “Since BCCL produces coking coal, which is crucial for industrial requirements, its role is vital in supporting the national economy.”
He also reviewed the status of the Jharia Master Plan, which aims to rehabilitate residents living in fire-affected zones of the coalfield area.
Assurance on Coal Supply to Power Plants
The minister assured that with CIL and its subsidiaries, including BCCL, consistently meeting production targets, there would be no shortage of coal for power plants across the country. He added that the impact of CIL and BCCL’s performance would positively influence CSR activities in the region.
A senior BCCL official confirmed that during the review meeting, the union minister took detailed stock of coal production, dispatch operations, and other key functions of the company.

Top Officials Brief Minister on BCCL’s Progress
Earlier in the meeting, BCCL Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Samiran Dutta presented an overview of the company’s progress, highlighting efforts taken to meet coal production targets and promote CSR-linked initiatives. He also reiterated the company’s achievement of a record production in April.
The meeting was attended by key officials including Director (Human Resources) Murli Krishna Ramaia, Director (Finance) Rakesh Kumar Sahay, Director (Technical) Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Projects) Manoj Kumar Agrawal, and Chief Vigilance Officer Aman Raj.
