Dhanbad, May 12: A final decision on whether to go ahead with the proposed nationwide trade union strike on May 20 or postpone it will be taken at a Joint Front meeting scheduled for May 15.

A senior office-bearer of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) said on Monday that, in light of the recent Pahalgam terror attack and India’s subsequent Operation Sindoor, the Joint Front of all trade unions is reconsidering the strike date.

“Given the current situation in the country following the ceasefire agreement and recent developments, the Joint Front will decide on May 15 whether to proceed with the nationwide strike on May 20 or defer it,” the INTUC leader stated.

INTUC national president and former MP Dr. G. Sanjeeva Reddy, Rashtriya Khan Mazdoor Federation (RKMF) national president and MLA Jaymangal Singh alias Anup Singh, and general secretary S.Q. Jama recently discussed the status of the proposed strike.

The INTUC leader further clarified that since the strike call was jointly issued by the Joint Front—comprising leaders of various national trade unions and supported by the I.N.D.I.A. alliance—only the presidents of the constituent unions can collectively decide on rescheduling or going ahead with the strike.
