PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, May 16: The Ranchi Meteorological Centre has issued a weather advisory forecasting hot and humid conditions today over isolated areas in the northeastern and southeastern parts of the state.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are also likely at isolated places across the state, excluding the northwestern region.

On May 17 and 18, thunderstorms with lightning and stronger gusty winds (40-50 kmph) are expected to continue, affecting most parts of the state except the northwest. Similar weather conditions are forecasted to persist on May 19.

Residents are advised to take necessary precautions, particularly in regions expected to experience gusty winds and lightning activity.

No significant change in maximum temperatures is expected over the next two days. However, a notable drop by 3–4°C is anticipated during the subsequent three days.

A weather system—a trough from Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim to southeast Madhya Pradesh, passing through north Chhattisgarh at 0.9 Km above mean sea level—continues to influence the region’s weather patterns.
