Jamshedpur, May 16: With monsoon not far away, the East Singhbhum district administration has adopted a proactive approach to combat the anticipated threat of dengue.
Acting on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal, a high-level meeting of the Dengue Task Force was convened at the Collectorate auditorium here today.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Development Commissioner Aniket Sachan.
Senior officials in attendance included Dhalbhum SDO Shatabdi Majumdar, MGM Hospital Deputy Superintendent Dr. Jujhar Majhi, ACMO Dr. Jogeshwar Prasad, District Malaria Officer Dr. A. Mitra, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Krishan Kumar, and District Public Relations Officer Panchanan Oraon. Representatives from private hospitals, industrial bodies, and voluntary organizations also participated.

Officials stressed the need for a proactive and coordinated multi-departmental strategy instead of reactive measures during the rainy season.
A detailed action calendar outlining specific responsibilities for each department will be developed to ensure timely and targeted intervention.
Hospitals have been directed to submit daily reports, and any dengue case reported must prompt immediate monitoring and control measures.
Awareness generation was highlighted as a key pillar of the anti-dengue initiative. The administration plans to involve school students, local representatives, and NGOs to amplify outreach.
Street plays, poster exhibitions, and awareness vans will be deployed to educate the public.

Dhalbhum SDO Shatabdi Majumdar emphasized that the campaign must move beyond formality and reach every ward, street, and school. Special cleanliness drives will be launched in identified hotspot areas. Regular inspections of under-construction buildings, prevention of water stagnation, and anti-larval treatments were also mandated.
Urban bodies, including the municipal corporation, will conduct regular fogging, drain cleaning, and anti-larval spraying operations. Simultaneously, mass awareness campaigns will be run through various media.
District Malaria Officer Dr. Mitra shared crucial information on dengue symptoms, testing, treatment, and prevention.
All participating representatives pledged full support to the district administration’s efforts. It was collectively agreed that public participation will be the cornerstone of all future strategies to effectively control the spread of dengue.
The administration’s integrated and inclusive approach sets a robust precedent in the fight against vector-borne diseases this monsoon.
