Jamshedpur, May 17: In a shocking incident on Saturday morning, a woman was targeted by chain snatchers in broad daylight at the Sidhgora police station area.

The incident occurred near the Chhota Durga Puja ground, close to a light post, around 9 am. The victim, identified as Sanjana Jha, was on her regular morning walk when two bike-borne miscreants snatched her gold chain worth Rs 50,000 and fled the spot.

According to Sanjana Jha, she noticed a bike stop at a distance while she was walking. One of the men got off the vehicle and approached her on foot before suddenly snatching her chain and escaping with his accomplice on the bike.

Upon receiving the information, Sidhgora police reached the spot and began an investigation. They are currently reviewing CCTV footage from nearby locations. A formal complaint has also been registered in the matter.

A local resident pointed out that this is the second such chain-snatching incident in Sidhgora within a fortnight.

A similar case had taken place earlier near the Durga Puja ground, raising concerns about rising crime in the area and creating an atmosphere of fear among residents.
