Jharkhand’s five medical colleges get 162 Senior Residents

Dhanbad, May 23: In a significant move to address the shortage of doctors in Jharkhand’s government medical colleges, the state government has deployed 162 Senior Residents (SRs) under the PG bond service scheme.

These newly appointed SRs are postgraduate medical professionals from Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi, and Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital (MGMMCH), Jamshedpur.

SNMMCH Dhanbad Gets Maximum Doctors

Among the five institutions, Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College and Hospital (SNMMCH), Dhanbad received the highest number of doctors, with 46 SRs posted. In contrast, Medinirai Medical College and Hospital (MMCH), Palamu, received the fewest, with just 19 doctors.

According to sources in the medical colleges, institutions such as Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital (PJMCH), Dumka, MMCH Palamu, and Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital (SBMCH), Hazaribagh are grappling with a severe shortage of medical professionals.
