PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, May 30: A deep depression over the Northwest Bay of Bengal, off the West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts, has intensified.

The system has been moving northwards at a speed of 20 Kmph and was last located at 08:30 AM IST near latitude 21.3°N and longitude 88.5°E.

It lies approximately 60 Km southeast of Sagar Island, 110 Km east-southeast of Digha, 160 Km east of Balasore, 180 Km south-southwest of Mongla (Bangladesh), and 180 Km west of Khepupara (Bangladesh).

As a result of this weather system, a thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty winds, with speeds reaching 30–40 kmph, is likely to occur at isolated places across Jharkhand today, May 30.

Residents are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated with official advisories.

Moreover, a trough at 0.9 Km above mean sea level extends from southeast Rajasthan to the center of the depression, cutting across north Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal, potentially contributing to unstable weather conditions in the region.
