Dhanbad, June 2: Three players from West Singhbhum defeated International Master (IM) Neeraj Mishra in simultaneous chess matches held on Sunday evening. The event took place at the Sitaram Rungta Recreation Hall of Town Club, Chaibasa, and was organised by the district chess association as part of the closing ceremony of a 12-day summer chess camp.
Kolkata-based IM Neeraj Mishra, who is also the coach of the Indian national chess team, played simultaneously against 21 rated players from the district. Among them, Samridhi Priya, Sachin Mundia, and Anish Kumar secured wins against Mishra.
Meanwhile, Harsh Murarka, Tanisk Kumar, and Dayaraj Kumar managed to draw their games. Mishra emerged victorious against the remaining 15 players.

Summer Chess Camp Concludes
The 12-day summer chess camp concluded on Sunday evening in the presence of West Singhbhum District Sports Officer Rupa Rani Tirki, who attended as the chief guest. Indian chess team coach IM Neeraj Mishra and Dr. Vijay Mudra were present as guests of honour.
In her address, Tirki praised the efforts of the district chess association for organising the camp to develop the skills of young chess enthusiasts. She encouraged the participants to apply what they learned during the camp in upcoming competitions, including the state championship.
Neeraj Mishra Urges Regular Practice Among Players
Speaking at the event, IM Neeraj Mishra urged the young players to take the lessons from the camp seriously and to continue practising regularly to keep themselves updated and competitive. The camp offered both theoretical and practical training sessions aimed at improving strategic thinking and gameplay.
West Singhbhum District Chess Association (WSDCA) General Secretary Basant Kumar Khandelwal shared that a total of 55 players, including 21 international-rated players, participated in the summer camp.

Neeraj Mishra, who previously served as the General Secretary of the All Jharkhand Chess Association (AJCA), lauded the West Singhbhum district chess association for its initiative. He suggested that other districts in Jharkhand should follow suit and conduct similar camps to promote chess across the state.
WSDCA President Mukund Rungta proposed a vote of thanks and expressed his gratitude to Neeraj Mishra and other trainers and supporters, including Biswajeet Chatterjee, Manish Sharma, Narendra Nath Pandey, Mandeep Mukhi, Kamal Kishore Deonath, and Suraj Tiu. Mementoes were presented in appreciation of their guidance during the camp.
Notable attendees at the event included Jahagir Alam, Arpit Khirwal, Anantlal Viswakarma, Nirmal Chandra Tripathi, Mahesh Agrawal, and Sourabh Newatia.
