New Delhi, June 6: The Supreme Court has granted the National Board of Examination (NBE) permission to conduct the NEET PG 2025 exam on August 3, which was originally scheduled for June 15. However, the court made it clear that no additional extensions would be entertained.
This development follows a May 30 order from the apex court, which instructed the NBE to hold the examination in a single shift, citing concerns about fairness and transparency. The court had criticized the previous plan to conduct the exam in two shifts, calling it “arbitrary.”

In response, the NBE approached the Supreme Court seeking more time, arguing that new arrangements were needed to comply with the single-shift directive. The Board stated that approximately 1,000 centres would have to be reorganized, with its technology partner Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) indicating August 3 as the earliest feasible date.
A bench comprising Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and Augustine George Masih accepted the Board’s explanation as genuine. The judges, though initially questioning the two-month extension request, ultimately agreed that the reasons provided by the NBE appeared bonafide.
During the proceedings, the NBE clarified that holding the exam on August 3 was the earliest possible option, given TCS’s logistical timelines and the requirement to ensure secure, transparent, and uniform conditions across all exam centres.

The court’s latest directive emphasizes the importance of maintaining fairness and integrity in the conduct of NEET PG 2025, warning that no further delays would be tolerated.
