Dhanbad, June 20: BIT Sindri on Friday hosted a seminar on the societal impact of drug addiction at the auditorium of the Civil Engineering Department.
The event aimed to raise awareness among youth and citizens about the harmful effects of substance abuse, which is becoming increasingly prevalent in society.
Prof. (Dr.) Rajeev Verma, Chief Warden of BIT Sindri, served as the keynote speaker. He spoke in detail about the damaging effects of drug use, its social consequences, and various preventive measures.

He emphasized how addiction tendencies among youth can be curbed, underscoring the essential roles that parents, teachers, and society must play in tackling the issue.
Experts from various departments also shared their insights, offering both medical and legal perspectives on drug abuse.
Earlier, Dr. Nishikant Kisku, the nodal officer of BIT Sindri, welcomed the participants. He emphasized the significance of drug de-addiction efforts and spoke about the severe consequences of falling into the trap of addiction.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by coordinator Prof. Prashant Ranjan Malviya, who expressed gratitude to the guests, faculty, and students. He reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to creating a drug-free future generation.

“Such awareness programs are vital in guiding youth toward the right path and serve as meaningful steps in building a society free from the menace of drugs,” he said.
Among those who addressed the gathering were Prof. Prafulla Kumar Sharma (Head, Civil Engineering), Prof. Anil Rajak (Head, Metallurgical Engineering), Dr. Rajendra Murmu, Dr. Manoj Mishra and others.
