Jamshedpur, June 27: The monsoon system has strengthened with the formation of a low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Odisha and West Bengal.
This development, driven by an upper air cyclonic circulation, is expected to impact large parts of Jharkhand over the next several days.
According to the latest forecast, heavy to very heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, is likely at isolated places across different regions of the state:

June 27: Heavy rainfall is likely over southern and adjoining central Jharkhand. Thunderstorms and lightning, with gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 Kmph, may occur at isolated places statewide.
June 28: Heavy rainfall may affect southern, central, and north-central parts of the state. Thunderstorm activity with gusty winds remains a concern.
June 29: Very heavy rainfall is expected over north-central and adjoining central Jharkhand, with heavy showers likely in the southern, central, and north-western regions.
June 30: Northern and adjoining north-western parts of the state are likely to receive heavy rainfall. Thunderstorm and lightning activities with gusty winds may persist.
July 1: Heavy rainfall is expected over the north-eastern parts of Jharkhand.
The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) currently extends through 27.0°N/68.5°E, covering Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Jhunjhunu, Bharatpur, Rampur, Sonipat, Anup Nagar, and up to 29.0°N/70.0°E.
Meanwhile, rain statistics revealed that against a normal of 149.8 mm, the state has so far received 283.9 mm of rain, a surplus of 89 per cent.
