Ranchi, June 30: Ashu Gopal and Shambhavi Burman clinched the boys’ and girls’ singles titles respectively at the 13th Ranchi District Badminton Tournament, which concluded at the Thakur Vishwanath Shahdeo Indoor Stadium, Khelgaon.
In the boys’ under-19 singles final, Ashu Gopal defeated Mohit Raj in straight sets, 21-19, 21-16, to lift the trophy.
In the girls’ under-17 final, Shambhavi Burman overcame Shradha Sinha with an identical scoreline of 21-19, 21-16.

In the open mixed doubles final, the duo of Manisha Rani Tirkey and Vinay Kumar Singh emerged victorious over the pair of Shambhavi Burman and Sagar Banjara, winning 21-17, 21-16.
In the men’s doubles (above 35 years) final, the team of Jitendra Kachhap and Saurabh Suman defeated Mukesh Agrawal and Rahul Agrawal in a closely fought three-set match: 21-18, 12-21, 21-18.
Sanju Kumar claimed the men’s singles title in the above 40 years category, defeating Rahul Kumar 21-12, 21-08. In the men’s singles (above 45 years) final, Manoj Tiwari beat Birendra Kisku 21-10, 21-11 to take the title.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Shekhar Jamuar (IAS), Director of Sports, Jharkhand, as the chief guest. RK Mallick (IPS) and Sunil Kumar (IAS) were guests of honour and presented the awards to the winners.
Secretary of the Badminton Association of Ranchi District (BARD), N.K. Dey, stated that over 40 players from across the district participated in the championship.
