Dhanbad, July 8: In a major boost to public healthcare, Dhanbad Sadar Hospital has become the first Sadar Hospital in Jharkhand to offer 28 diagnostic tests completely free of cost. The list includes essential tests such as liver profile, kidney profile, lipid profile, and several others.

Deputy Commissioner Aditya Ranjan informed that the hospital laboratory has been equipped with advanced diagnostic machines, allowing patients to access nearly all required tests within the hospital premises itself, without having to go elsewhere.

Hospital Revived After 37 Years in 2019

Dhanbad Sadar Hospital, which was revived in 2019 after a gap of 37 years, has set a new benchmark in government healthcare services. The hospital had ceased to function as an independent unit in 1982, when the then Bihar government merged it with Patliputra Medical College to meet Medical Council of India’s norms for bed strength.

Its revival was made possible through the efforts of local MLA Raj Sinha and the intervention of the Jharkhand High Court. Today, the hospital operates with contractual doctors and allied healthcare professionals under the District Mineral Fund Trust (DMFT) framework.

Comprehensive Testing Now In-House

Among the free tests now available are pancreatic enzyme levels, serum calcium, LDH, and multiple hematology tests. The kidney profile includes important indicators such as creatinine, urea, uric acid, and VLDL, all provided at no cost to patients.

“Now, patients visiting Sadar Hospital will no longer need to seek these tests from private labs or outside facilities. All of them are being conducted free of charge,” DC Aditya Ranjan emphasized.

Enhanced Monitoring and Transparency

Taking a hands-on approach, DC Ranjan is also personally monitoring the functioning of the hospital. He has implemented daily displays of doctors’ rosters for OPD, emergency, and night duty to ensure transparency and efficient service delivery.
