Jharkhand News: Laos-based cyber fraud creates fake WhatsApp account of Dhanbad DC

Fake WhatsApp account of Dhanbad DC

Dhanbad, July 9: A cyber fraudster based in Laos has created a fake WhatsApp account impersonating Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Aditya Ranjan, using his name and profile photo to deceive people and administrative officials.

According to the complaint lodged with the police, the impersonator is attempting to mislead people and potentially extort money by posing as the DC through the fraudulent account.

Issuing a public alert, DC Aditya Ranjan urged citizens not to fall victim to such scams.

“If anyone receives messages or calls demanding money or making suspicious offers in my name from unknown numbers or social media accounts, please block the number or link immediately and report it to the cyber police,” he said.

He also advised people to refrain from clicking on suspicious links or messages. The matter has been reported to the authorities, and appropriate action is being taken against the cyber fraudster.
